Glo-ball: Local Traditions meet Italian Design

“Glo-ball” is a concept for an Italian Embassy in Uzbekistan and a great opportunity to deepen the relationships among two countries and two cultures, their exchanges in the artistic, technological and economical fields, highlighting their similarities and differences.
The building weaves together traditional aesthetics from the beautiful clay architectures in Bukhara, Samarqand and Khiva, contemporary Western design and European sustainable architecture standards in a tribute to the Silk Road’s historical role, therefore the meeting of western and eastern cultures.
Clay has important historical roots both in Italy and in Uzbekistan, therefore the façade acts as a “trait d’union” by suggesting a new use of the local geometries and patterns transforming massive traditional clay walls in light and translucent high-tech facades.
