BETWEEN TRADITION AND INNOVATION: THE NETWORK TOWERS
Network towers are a contemporary reinterpretation of the stone towers that travelers met along the path of the silk route. The wind towers of Yazd, which so much wonder aroused in Marco Polo, catch the wind from the slots at the top and funnel down to cool the interior spaces, an ancient but effective system of bio-climatic architecture. So the new towers are green machines, interior skin in ETFE (Ethylene Tetrafluoroethylene) and exterior skin of dry stone walls. The towers are accumulators of information, interactive spaces that allow access to a constantly updated database, which tells the story of the great landscapes found along the Silk Road, but also spreads news in real time global universe economic, cultural, social and political.
