Taking into account the existing condition, the project reshape the outer edge of the river, giving citizens more and larger green areas, parking spaces and pedestrian paths. A series of floating gardens extend the available space, providing more space for conducting collective activities and the boats docking. The footpath, accompanied by a new system of lighting and street furniture along the Monument to the People’s Heroes and connects the two banks of the Suzhou River via a footbridge. The base of the Monument is redrawn so as to enhance and improve the existing relationship between water and public space. The bridge – a part of an overall strategy that affects the entire river- becomes an extension of the footpath on the Suzhou River. Moreover the protection system encourage lateral gaze to Pudong and create at the same time several staging points in which stop and observe the continuous changes of the city.
